Weekly timesheet: questions people ask
Why doesn't the sheet calculate hours from the punch times?
Clock times are recorded for the audit trail, and rounding and break rules differ by employer. You enter the daily hours, and the sheet does the weekly math.
Is overtime always over 40 hours a week?
That is the federal rule for non-exempt employees. Some states add daily overtime, for example over 8 hours in a day in California. Adjust the overtime figure if your state requires it. This is not legal advice.
Are meal breaks paid?
Bona fide meal periods of 30 minutes or more are generally unpaid under federal law; short breaks are paid. State laws may require meal breaks. Check your obligations.
Can I use this for multiple employees?
Use Fill PDF from Excel to create one prefilled timesheet per employee from a roster.
