Terms of service
By using PDFBetter you agree to these terms. They're written to be read; if something is unclear, email support@pdfbetter.com.
1. Your content
You keep all rights to the documents you upload or create. You give us permission to store, process and display them only as needed to provide the service to you and the people you share them with.
2. Accounts
You can use many tools without an account. Accounts are for one person; Business plans add seats for teams. Keep your credentials secure and tell us about unauthorized use.
3. Acceptable use
- Don't use PDFBetter to break the law, infringe others' rights, forge documents or signatures, or impersonate others.
- Don't upload malware, probe or overload the service, or circumvent plan limits or security controls.
- Don't send unsolicited signature requests, form links or faxes.
4. Plans, billing and cancellation
Plan contents and prices are listed on the pricing page. New accounts start on the Free plan, which needs no card and has no end date. When you subscribe to Pro or Business on pdfbetter.com for the first time, you get a 7-day free trial: you add a payment card at checkout, nothing is charged during the trial, and we email you before it ends. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the subscription then starts and the plan price is charged to that card. One free trial per account; accounts that have had a subscription before, on the web or through the App Store, are charged from the first day. Subscriptions renew until cancelled; you can cancel anytime in Settings → Plan & usage and keep access until the end of the trial or the paid period. A Day Pass and credit packs are one-time purchases that don't renew. If you upgrade to Pro within 7 days of buying a Day Pass, the Day Pass price comes off your first Pro payment. Signature-request emails sent from Free accounts include a short “Sent with PDFBetter” footer; documents and downloads don't. Prices may change with 30 days' notice for existing subscribers.
5. Refunds
If you paid on pdfbetter.com, email support@pdfbetter.com within 14 days of your first payment and we'll refund it in full. If a charge was a mistake, contact us within 14 days and we'll make it right. If a purchase of credits is refunded, the unused credits from that purchase are removed. Purchases made through Apple's App Store are refunded by Apple under Apple's rules; request those from Apple.
6. Electronic signatures and records
By using signing features you agree to do business electronically and to receive records electronically. Signers are asked to consent before signing and may decline. In a signature request, each signer signs with their own key, generated in their browser, kept on their device and certified by PDFBetter's certificate authority. When a request is completed, PDFBetter digitally seals the signed PDF and the certificate of completion and, when the time-stamping service is reachable, has them independently time-stamped, so later changes are detectable; the signing evidence is embedded in the PDF. PDFBetter keeps that evidence (the sealed PDF, the certificate and the audit trail) for 7 years after completion, even if the sender deletes the document or their account, so the people who signed can still prove the agreement. Records of requests that were never completed are deleted with the document. Signers are identified by email (and an optional emailed code), not by ID documents or SMS, and the seal shows whether a file changed, not who the signers are. Whether an electronic signature is valid for a particular document depends on the law that applies to it; PDFBetter provides tools and evidence, not legal advice. See e-signature legality.
7. AI features
AI output can be wrong or incomplete. Check summaries, translations, suggested edits and detected fields before relying on them. Don't use AI output as legal, medical, tax or financial advice.
8. Templates and official forms
Templates are general starting points, not legal advice; have them reviewed for your situation. Official forms are opened from the issuing agency's website; PDFBetter isn't affiliated with or endorsed by those agencies.
9. Availability and changes
We work to keep PDFBetter available but can't promise it will be uninterrupted. We may change features; if we remove something material from a paid plan, we'll tell you and offer a prorated refund.
10. Liability
To the extent the law allows, PDFBetter is provided “as is”, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We're not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing here limits liability that can't legally be limited.
11. Ending the agreement
You can stop using PDFBetter and delete your account at any time. We may suspend accounts that break these terms, with notice where practical, and give you a reasonable chance to export your documents.
12. Changes to these terms
We'll post updated terms here and email account holders about material changes at least 14 days before they apply.
