What it does
PDF to quiz, explained
PDF to quiz writes multiple-choice questions about what your documents say — numbers, dates, obligations, definitions and findings — with three to five options each and exactly one correct answer. Every question carries a quote, copied from the cited page of the exact document version, that shows the correct answer; PDFBetter checks the quote word for word and drops any question it can't verify. A quiz costs 2 AI credits.

You answer on screen: pick an option, check it, and see whether you were right, a one-sentence explanation and a link to the source page. This page makes five questions; in a document workspace you can choose 3, 5, 8 or 10. Quizzes are saved, so you can come back to them.
Use it to check you've understood a policy, a training manual, course reading or a contract before a meeting or exam. A quiz tests recall of the documents, not whether the documents are right. For a spoken summary use PDF to audio; for a written one, PDF to brief.
The text is processed by OpenAI's API under OpenAI's API data-usage terms, which by default exclude API data from training.

Good to know before you start
- Questions are multiple choice only. It doesn't make flashcards, open-ended questions or true/false sets, and it doesn't grade written answers.
- There's no export to a learning platform or a printable answer sheet; the quiz is used on screen in PDFBetter.
- A quiz checks recall of what the documents say, not whether the documents are correct.
- Questions that can't be tied to a verified quote are removed, so you can get fewer than you asked for.
- Scanned PDFs need OCR first; text in images, charts and diagrams isn't read.
If something goes wrong
If something goes wrong
- The quiz has fewer questions than expected
- Questions whose quote couldn't be found on the cited page were removed. Add more documents or remove the focus to get more.
- It says no questions could be tied to a quote
- The documents are probably scans without a text layer. Run OCR PDF first, then try again.
PDF to quiz: questions people ask
What kind of questions does it write?
Multiple-choice questions about facts stated in the documents, with three to five options and one correct answer. No trick questions, opinions or “all of the above”.
Can it make flashcards?
No. It makes multiple-choice questions only. Each question, its correct answer and explanation can serve as a study card, but there is no flashcard mode or export.
How many questions can I get?
Five from this page. In a document workspace you can choose 3, 5, 8 or 10. Questions that fail the quote check are dropped, so you may get fewer.
How do I know the correct answer is really correct?
Each answer comes with a quote from the cited page, checked word for word against that page of the exact document version. Open the source to read it in context.
Can I make a quiz in another language?
Questions are written in the language of the documents unless your focus asks for another one, for example “questions in Spanish”.
How much does it cost?
2 AI credits per quiz, whatever the number of questions. The Free plan includes 20 AI credits a month and Pro includes 500.
Is my document used to train AI?
The text is processed by OpenAI's API under OpenAI's API data-usage terms, which by default exclude API data from training. PDFBetter does not train models on your documents.
