What it does
AI PDF editor, explained
The AI PDF editor turns a plain-language instruction into a set of proposed edits. You see a summary of what will change and where, then apply or discard it. Nothing in the document changes until you approve.

It helps with changes that are tedious by hand: updating a date or amount in several places, replacing a company name throughout, rewording a paragraph more formally, or adding a short clause under a heading. Applied edits are normal editor changes, so undo and version history work as usual.
For a single word, Edit text or Find and replace is faster and free. Spelling and grammar checks have their own tool. AI edits can't redact content; use Redact PDF to remove sensitive text.
Each instruction costs 2 AI credits. The document text and your instruction are sent to OpenAI's API under OpenAI's API data-usage terms, which by default exclude API data from model training. Proposals can be wrong, so read them before applying.

Good to know before you start
- Proposed edits can miss occurrences or change the wrong text; review every proposal.
- Edits on scanned pages are drawn over the image and need OCR first.
- Replacement text uses the closest available font, which may not match embedded fonts exactly.
- It does not redact, reflow whole documents, or redesign layouts.
If something goes wrong
If something goes wrong
- The proposal changed text I didn't mean
- Discard it and repeat the instruction with the page or section named, or undo the specific change after applying.
- Nothing was proposed
- The text may be part of an image. Run OCR PDF, or make the change with Edit text.
AI PDF editor: questions people ask
Does AI change my document automatically?
No. It proposes edits and nothing is applied until you approve them.
Can I undo AI edits?
Yes. Applied edits are ordinary editor changes, so undo and version history work.
How much does an edit cost?
2 AI credits per instruction, whether you apply the proposal or not.
Can it check spelling?
Use Check PDF spelling for that; it lists issues page by page for you to accept or skip.
Can AI remove confidential information?
No. Use Redact PDF, which permanently deletes content. Text edits only change what is shown.
