Our verdict

DocHub, an airSlate product like pdfFiller, is a lightweight PDF editor and signer with tight Google Drive, Gmail and Classroom integration, unlimited signature requests and bulk send on Pro, and a site license with SSO for schools and companies. PDFBetter offers a larger free monthly allowance, OCR, Office conversion and AI with page citations, plus form publishing with response collection. Google Workspace users who mostly sign and annotate will be comfortable in DocHub; people who need OCR, conversion and forms will get more from PDFBetter.

Pricing and free use

DocHub offers Free, Basic and Pro plans per user and a quoted Site License. When we checked, its pricing page displayed prices only in euros — Basic €8 and Pro €12 a month — and DocHub's own blog quotes Basic at $8 to $11 and Pro at $12 to $16 per user a month, depending on billing. Annual billing saves roughly 25 to 30 percent. The free plan allows 3 uses a month shared across all features, and the 30-day Pro trial requires a credit card.

PDFBetter's browser tools (merge, split, rotate, images to PDF and similar) run on your device and download free without an account. Downloading a document you edited in the editor needs a free account; the Free plan includes 3 such downloads a month with no watermark, plus 3 signature requests, 1 live form with 50 responses, 20 OCR pages and 20 AI credits. Pro costs $15 a month, or $10 a month billed yearly, and a $6 Day Pass gives 24 hours of Pro without a subscription.

Signing and Google Workspace

DocHub's Basic plan allows unlimited self-signing and templates, while signature requests still count against the free allowance; Pro adds unlimited requests, bulk send and in-person signing. DocHub's Drive, Gmail and Classroom integrations are included on every plan, which makes it convenient for schools and Google-based teams.

PDFBetter includes 3 signature requests a month on Free and unlimited on Pro, with signing order, reminders and a completion certificate; bulk send is on Business. Every signer signs with their own cryptographic key. Every completed PDF is digitally sealed and independently time-stamped, with the evidence built into the file. Every plan can require signers to enter a code sent to their email. It has no Google Workspace add-on — you upload files from your device.

OCR, conversion, forms and AI

DocHub's help center says it does not currently offer OCR, and its AI assistant, available on Pro, cannot read scanned or image-only text. It imports Office files and exports PDF and Word. You can add fillable fields and export filled values to CSV.

PDFBetter runs OCR on scans so the text becomes searchable and editable, converts to and from Word, Excel and PowerPoint, publishes forms as a link, QR code or embed with response export, and includes AI credits on every plan with page citations.
