What it does

Add pages to PDF, explained

To add pages to a PDF, upload the main file, choose what to insert (blank pages or pages from another PDF) and pick the position: before page 1, after a specific page, or at the end. A marker in the thumbnail strip shows exactly where the new pages will land before you save.

Common cases: a blank page for handwritten notes or a signature, a corrected page 7 from a newer version of the file, or a signed addendum slotted in after the contract's last clause. You can insert only some pages of the second PDF, for example pages 2–3 of an amendment.

Inserted pages keep their own size, so a Letter-size addendum can sit inside an A4 report without being stretched. Blank pages copy the size of the page next to them unless you choose another size.

Add pages differs from Merge in that it puts content inside a document at a position rather than joining files end to end. It runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded and the result is free to download.

How to do it

Add pages to a PDF in 4 steps

  1. 1Pages out of order

  2. 2Move, rotate, remove

  3. 3Pages in order

  1. 1

    Upload the main PDF

This is the document you are adding pages to.

  2. 2

    Choose what to insert

Blank pages (choose how many and their size) or another PDF, from which you can pick specific pages.

  3. 3

    Set the position

Pick “before page”, “after page” or “at the end”; the preview marks the insertion point.

  4. 4

    Save the result

Check the new page count and order, then save and download.

Example

Before and after

Before

A 12-page A4 agreement and a separate 2-page Letter-size signed amendment.

After

A 14-page PDF with the amendment inserted after page 11, before the signature page. The amendment pages stay Letter-size.

Good to know before you start

  • Pages inserted from another PDF keep their own size; this tool does not scale them to match. Use Resize PDF afterward for uniform pages.
  • Bookmarks in the main file are kept, but bookmarks from the inserted PDF are not brought over.
  • If the main file is digitally signed, inserting pages invalidates that signature.
If something goes wrong
The pages went in one position off
“After page 5” places the new pages as 6, 7…; “before page 5” places them as 5, 6…. Undo and pick the other option, or drag them in Organize PDF.
The second PDF will not load
It may be password-protected or damaged. Unlock it first, or re-export it from the app that made it.

Add pages to PDF: questions people ask

Can I add a page with an image instead of a PDF?

Convert the image with JPG to PDF or PNG to PDF first, then insert that PDF. Assemble PDF also accepts images directly if you are building a packet.

Can I add blank pages between every page for notes?

Not in one click here. Insert one blank page, then use Organize PDF to duplicate and place it; for long documents that is still quicker than editing elsewhere.

Do form fields in the inserted pages still work?

Yes. They stay fillable. If a field name already exists in the main PDF, the inserted one is renamed so both keep their own values.

Is this the same as adding text to a page?

No. Add pages inserts whole pages. To type on an existing page, use Add text to PDF.

Does inserting pages upload my files?

No. Both files are processed in your browser and are not stored by PDFBetter.
