Pricing and free limits
Sejda's free web tools allow 3 tasks per hour on documents up to 200 pages or 50 MB, with no signup. A Web Week Pass costs $5 and does not renew, Web Monthly is $7.50, and Desktop+Web Annual is $63 a year. A Desktop Week Pass is $7.95. Teams get volume discounts.
PDFBetter's browser tools (merge, split, rotate, images to PDF and similar) run on your device and download free without an account. Downloading a document you edited in the editor needs a free account; the Free plan includes 3 such downloads a month with no watermark, plus 3 signature requests, 1 live form with 50 responses, 20 OCR pages and 20 AI credits. Pro costs $15 a month, or $10 a month billed yearly, and a $6 Day Pass gives 24 hours of Pro without a subscription.
Both offer a non-renewing pass: Sejda's covers a week of web use for $5, PDFBetter's covers 24 hours of Pro — including signature requests, OCR and AI — for $6.

Local processing
Sejda's desktop app processes files on your computer and runs on Windows, Mac and Linux. Its web version uploads files and deletes them after 2 hours.
PDFBetter has free desktop apps for Mac and Windows but not Linux. Its browser tools — merge, split, rotate, extract, watermark and image conversions — run inside the browser, so those files are never uploaded. The editor, Office conversions and OCR run on PDFBetter's servers.
Editing, forms and signing
Editing, forms and signing
Sejda edits existing text, builds forms with text, dropdown, checkbox, radio and signature fields, and can share a fill link that returns responses. Its signing tool lets you sign yourself or request others to fill a document by email; Sejda notes it does not guarantee signatures are legally binding, and we did not find an audit trail.
PDFBetter adds a signing workflow with signing order, reminders, expiry and a certificate of completion, plus formula and conditional fields in the form builder. Every signer signs with their own cryptographic key. Every completed PDF is digitally sealed and independently time-stamped, with the evidence built into the file. Its redaction removes the underlying content; Sejda's editor warns that its whiteout tool is not suitable for redaction.
