No. You can open the editor and every tool without an account. Browser tools such as merge, split and rotate download free on your device. Downloading an edited document, sharing it or sending it for signature needs a free account — no card. The free plan has no end date and includes 3 edited-document downloads and 3 signature requests a month; signature-request emails sent from Free accounts carry a short “Sent with PDFBetter” footer. Signing security is the same on every plan: each signer signs with their own cryptographic key, the completed PDF is digitally sealed and time-stamped, and you can require a code emailed to the signer before they open the document. Access codes you share by phone or text are on Pro and Business.

A download is one export of an edited document from our servers. Downloading the same unchanged version again doesn't count again — only a new version (after you edit) uses another download. Browser tools never count, because they run on your device.

Guest drafts are kept for 1 hour after you create them. If you create an account (or sign in) from that device, your guest drafts move into your account automatically and stop expiring.

Yes, 7 days, the first time you subscribe on pdfbetter.com. You choose a plan and add a card at checkout; nothing is charged during the trial. We email you before it ends, and you can cancel any time before then in Settings → Plan & usage — you won't be charged and your account returns to Free. If you keep it, the plan price is charged when the trial ends (for example $15/month for Pro monthly). One trial per account: accounts that already had a subscription, on the web or in the App Store, pay from the first day. New accounts themselves start on Free; there's no automatic trial.

Yes. Cancel in Settings → Plan & usage → Cancel plan (or through Manage billing). Your plan stays active until the end of the trial or the period you paid for, then your account returns to Free; you can resume before then with one click. Your documents stay in your account.

Yes. If you paid on pdfbetter.com, email support@pdfbetter.com within 14 days of your first payment for a full refund. Purchases made through Apple's App Store are refunded by Apple under its rules, not by us. If a purchase of credits is refunded, the unused credits from that purchase are removed. Details are in the terms of service.

Business is priced per seat ($24 a month, or $18 a month billed yearly). Each seat is one person in your team workspace. You choose the number of seats at checkout and can change it later from billing; invitations can't exceed your seats.

Buy a Day Pass: $6 for 24 hours of Pro. It doesn't renew and there's nothing to cancel. If you upgrade to Pro within 7 days of buying it, the Day Pass price comes off your first Pro payment.

Prices are shown in US dollars without tax. Depending on where you live, sales tax or VAT may be added at checkout, and the checkout page shows the total before you pay.

We tell you before you start the task, not after. You can wait for the next period, buy a credit pack (for AI and fax), use a Day Pass, or upgrade. Nothing you've already made is locked.
