pdfFiller free trial: how to avoid being charged
Reviewed

Short answer
pdfFiller advertises a 30-day free trial. Depending on the offer it may ask for a payment method, and pdfFiller says it may charge that method when the trial ends unless you cancel. To avoid the charge, cancel before the end date your account shows (My Account → Subscription & payment → Cancel subscription), or in the App Store or Google Play if the trial started in the app.

How pdfFiller's free trial works
pdfFiller's pricing page invites you to start a 30-day free trial, and its free-trial article (7 August 2026) says the length shown at signup and in your account is what counts. On whether a card is needed, pdfFiller's pages differ: the free-trial article says a payment method is required depending on the offer and where you start the trial, while its account FAQ says a card is required for verification. Assume the final signup screen is the authority and read it.
What happens at the end is clear in both: the selected paid subscription may begin automatically after the trial unless it is cancelled, and pdfFiller may charge the saved payment method when the trial period ends. Plans renew automatically on the last day of each period.
Check which billing period you picked. Annual plans show a monthly figure but bill the whole year: on 28 October 2026 pdfFiller listed Basic at $8 a month billed annually ($96 a year), Plus at $12 ($144) and Premium at $15 ($180), against $20, $30 and $40 for month-to-month billing.
Find your trial's end date
Do this on the day you start the trial, not the day before it ends.
- 1
Open Subscription & payment
In pdfFiller, click your profile icon → My Account → Subscription & payment.
- 2
Note the plan and the date
Write down the plan, whether it's billed annually or monthly, and the date the trial ends or the first charge is due.
- 3
Set a reminder
Set a reminder two days before that date, so a time-zone difference or a slow week doesn't catch you out.
Cancel before the trial ends
Cancelling during the trial keeps the trial running to its end and stops the first charge. pdfFiller's article says to cancel within the timeframe shown for your account; its blog FAQ suggests at least 24 hours before the trial ends, which matches Apple's rule for App Store trials.
If you started the trial in the iPhone or Android app, cancel in the App Store (Settings → your name → Subscriptions) or Google Play (profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions). Deleting the app doesn't cancel the trial.
- 1
Open My Account
Click your profile icon in pdfFiller and choose My Account.
- 2
Cancel the subscription
In Subscription & payment, click Cancel subscription and finish the prompts.
- 3
Keep the confirmation
Save the confirmation email, and download any documents you want to keep before the trial ends.
If you were charged anyway
Cancelling doesn't reverse a charge that has already gone through. pdfFiller's refund policy lets first-time self-service users who didn't find the product helpful ask for a refund within 180 days of their first payment; the refund guide lists what to send. App Store and Google Play charges are refunded by Apple or Google.
A free plan instead of a trial
PDFBetter has a permanent Free plan rather than a countdown: no card, no end date, 3 edited-document downloads, 3 signature requests and 20 AI credits a month, and browser tools such as merge and split that download free without an account.
Paid trials exist too, and they're stated up front: Pro and Business yearly start with 7 days free for first-time subscribers, with a card at checkout, a reminder email before the trial ends, and cancel or resume in Settings → Plan & usage. Monthly plans and Starter have no trial and are charged at checkout.

Questions people ask
Does pdfFiller's free trial need a credit card?
It depends on the offer. pdfFiller's free-trial article says a payment method is required depending on the offer and channel, and another pdfFiller FAQ says a card is required for verification. The last signup screen tells you.
When does pdfFiller charge after the trial?
pdfFiller says it may charge the saved payment method when the displayed trial period ends, for the plan and billing period you selected. Check the date under My Account → Subscription & payment.
How long is the pdfFiller free trial?
pdfFiller advertises 30 days. Its free-trial article says the length shown at signup and in your account is the one that applies.
Will deleting the app stop the trial?
No. pdfFiller says deleting the app does not cancel an Apple subscription, and Google says the same for Google Play. Cancel in the store.
Do I keep my documents if I cancel during the trial?
You keep access until the trial ends. Download what you need before then; pdfFiller's pages give about a month after cancellation before files may become unavailable.
I forgot to cancel and was charged for a year. What now?
Cancel so it doesn't renew, then ask pdfFiller Support for a refund under its refund policy, which covers first-time self-service users within 180 days of the first payment.
