What it does
Expense report from receipts, explained
To make an expense report from receipts, drop up to 10 receipt photos or PDFs here and read them. Each receipt's date, merchant, payment method, subtotal, tax, tip and total are read, and you choose a category for each (Meals, Travel, Lodging, Fuel and so on, or your own), or apply one category to every receipt that has none.
Download the expense report and you get an Excel workbook with one row per receipt in date order (Date, Merchant, Category, Payment method, Subtotal, Tax, Tip, Total, Currency, File name), then a total row for each currency. Amounts in different currencies are never added together or converted: a trip with dollar and euro receipts gets a USD total and a EUR total. A second sheet lists the checks.
Every receipt is added up before it reaches the report: items plus tax (when it isn't included in the prices) plus tip must equal the total. A receipt that doesn't add up is flagged so you can fix the misread value first, and the report still marks it if you export anyway.
The report is a spreadsheet, not a submission to an expense system; attach it, or copy the rows into your company's form. Keep the original receipts if your employer or tax authority requires them.

Expense report from receipts: questions people ask
What's in the expense report?
One row per receipt in date order with date, merchant, category, payment method, subtotal, tax, tip, total, currency and file name, a total row per currency, and a sheet of checks.
Can it convert my receipts to one currency?
No. Receipts keep their own currency and the report totals each currency separately, so no exchange rate is guessed.
Can I use my own categories?
Yes. Type any category; the suggestions are only a starting point.
What if a receipt doesn't add up?
It's flagged with the difference. Fix the value on the page; if you export anyway, its row in the Checks sheet records the problem.
What does it cost?
Reading uses from 1 AI credit per page read (the Free plan includes 20 AI credits a month, Pro 500); scans and photos also use OCR pages (20 a month on Free). Exports are free and can be repeated.
Where do my receipts go?
