Meeting minutes: questions people ask
How detailed should minutes be?
Record what was decided and who will act, not a transcript. Summaries keep minutes accurate and less likely to be disputed.
What if there was no quorum?
Record that a quorum was not present. Generally no binding action can be taken, though the meeting may discuss items. Check your bylaws.
Who approves minutes?
Usually the body itself at its next meeting. Record the approval date once they are approved.
Should votes list individual names?
Record counts unless your bylaws or a member asks for a roll-call vote to be recorded by name.
