Sales receipt
For sellers who take payment at the time of sale and need to hand or email the customer a receipt: craft fairs, farmers markets, pop-up shops, and service counters without a point-of-sale system. It records what was bought, the tax, how it was paid and, for cash, the change given.

Sales receipt: questions people ask
Which tax rate do I use at a market or fair?
Generally the rate for the location where the sale happens, which can include state and local rates. Some states require a temporary seller's permit for events. This is not tax advice.
Do I need to include my return policy?
Several states require stores to post or print a return policy if they do not give full refunds. Putting it on the receipt avoids disputes.
What reference should I record for card payments?
Only the card type and last four digits, or the authorization code. Never write the full card number on a receipt.
How is a sales receipt different from an invoice?
An invoice asks for payment that is due later. A sales receipt confirms payment received at the time of sale.
