Monthly budget: questions people ask
Should I budget with take-home or gross pay?
Take-home pay, the amount that actually reaches your account, unless you also want to track taxes and payroll deductions as categories.
What does a negative difference mean?
You spent more than budgeted in that category. A positive number means you spent less.
How do I handle irregular bills like car insurance?
Divide the annual cost by 12 and budget that amount each month, setting it aside until the bill arrives.
Can I reuse this every month?
Yes. Download a blank copy each month, or open the template again; library templates are never overwritten.
