What it does
Add date to PDF, explained
To add a date to a PDF, select the date tool, click the date line, pick the date from a calendar and choose a format; the date is placed as text in that format and can be moved or restyled. It defaults to today, so dating a form you are signing takes one click.

Six formats cover most forms: 10/15/2026 (US), 15/10/2026 (UK and most of Europe), 2026-10-15 (ISO, unambiguous), October 15, 2026, 15 October 2026, and 15.10.2026 (Germany and much of central Europe). Picking the format the form expects avoids the classic mix-up where 03/04 means March to one reader and April to another.
A date you add here is fixed: it stays exactly as typed. That is right when you are completing and signing a document yourself. When you send a document to someone else to sign, you usually want their signing date instead, so place a date field assigned to them in Request signatures; they complete it when they sign.
Need the same date in a fillable form that other people complete? A date field from Add text fields or Form builder gives them a date picker and checks the format, instead of a stamp you filled in for them.

What it looks like

- Edit & fill, Invite to sign and Create form are three modes of the same editor
- Amounts are formula fields: they calculate as you type
- The field navigator counts what's left and jumps to the next field
The editor in Edit & fill mode. Sample content; names and companies are fictional.

Input
Output
Good to know before you start
- The date is static text. It does not update and is not tied to when anyone signed; use a recipient date field in a signing request for that.
- Month names are in English; for other languages, type the date with Add text.
- Dates are not validated against the form's own rules (for example a date of birth in the future); check them before downloading.
Add date to PDF: questions people ask
What is the difference between a fixed date and a date field?
A fixed date is text you place and it never changes. A date field is an interactive box that a recipient or form filler completes, with a picker and format check.
Can the date fill in automatically when someone signs?
Yes, but not with this tool. In Request signatures, assign a date field to the signer; they complete it as part of signing.
Which format should I use for an international document?
YYYY-MM-DD (ISO 8601) cannot be misread; otherwise spell the month out, e.g. 15 October 2026.
Can I change the date after placing it?
Yes. Click the date to pick another day or format until you download.
Does the date use my time zone?
The calendar defaults to today in your device's time zone; the stored value is just the calendar date, with no time.
