What it does
PPT to PDF, explained
PPT to PDF converts presentations in the older PowerPoint 97–2003 format (.ppt, and .pps slide shows) into a PDF with one page per slide. It is for decks that come out of archives, older templates or systems that still save in the legacy binary format. For current .pptx files, PPTX to PDF covers the format-specific issues.

Each PDF page takes the slide's own size and shape: a 4:3 deck, common in older PPT files, becomes 4:3 pages, and a widescreen deck becomes wide pages. Slides are exported as they look at the end of their animations, with every build step visible. Speaker notes are not included, and hidden slides are left out.
Conversion uses LibreOffice on our processing servers. Older decks often use fonts that are no longer common and embedded objects such as Excel charts from the same era; those are drawn from the preview picture stored in the file, and missing fonts are substituted with similar ones.
A .pps file is the same format saved to open directly as a slide show; it converts exactly like a .ppt. Without an account you can run 2 conversions; the Free plan includes 10 a month.

Good to know before you start
- Speaker notes and hidden slides are not included in the PDF.
- Animations, transitions, audio and video do not play in a PDF; each slide shows its final state, and media appears as a still frame or placeholder.
- Fonts that are not available on our servers are substituted, which can change text wrapping on slides with tight layouts.
- Presentations saved with an open password, and files from PowerPoint versions before 97, cannot be converted.
If something goes wrong
If something goes wrong
- Text overflows its box on some slides
- A font was substituted. Open the deck in PowerPoint, change those slides to a common font, save, and convert again.
- An embedded chart is missing or blank
- The file did not store a preview picture for that object. Open it in PowerPoint, click the chart once so it refreshes, save, and convert again.
PPT to PDF: questions people ask
What is the difference between PPT and PPTX to PDF?
The conversion engine is the same. This page covers the older binary .ppt and .pps formats and their quirks; PPTX to PDF covers embedded fonts, SmartArt and other features of the newer format.
Are speaker notes included?
No. The PDF contains the slides only. To share notes, export notes pages from PowerPoint as PDF.
Can I get several slides per page as handouts?
Not in this conversion. Convert to PDF, then print with several pages per sheet from your PDF viewer's print dialog.
What page size will the PDF have?
The slide size of the deck. A 4:3 deck gives 10 × 7.5 inch pages; widescreen decks give wide pages.
Do I need an account?
You can run 2 conversions without an account. The Free plan includes 10 conversions a month.
