What it does
Resize PDF, explained
Resize PDF changes the page dimensions, for example from A4 to US Letter for a US portal, or makes a file with mixed page sizes uniform before printing. It can also crop pages to trim wide scanner margins or cut a receipt out of a full-page scan.

Resizing is about paper size, not file size. A resized PDF is not smaller in megabytes; if you need a smaller file to email, use Compress PDF.
When the new size has a different shape from the old one, you choose how content fits: Fit scales the page down or up so everything is visible with white bands where shapes differ; Fill scales to cover the new page and trims what overflows; Stretch fills the page exactly but distorts proportions. The preview shows the result on your own pages before you save.
Resizing and cropping run in your browser, so nothing is uploaded and the download is free.

Six Letter-size pages using Fit. The A4 pages are scaled slightly to fit and centered, with thin white bands top and bottom.
Settings & formats
What you can control

- Crop
- Drag a crop box on one page and apply it to that page, a range or all pages.
- Pages
- Apply to every page or a selection, leaving other pages as they are.

Good to know before you start
- Resizing does not reflow text. Content is scaled as a whole, so small text on a large page gets smaller when you shrink the page.
- Cropping hides content outside the crop box; it does not delete it. Someone can recover hidden content with other software, so use Redact PDF for sensitive material.
- Fill trims content that falls outside the new page shape, which can cut off headers or footers. Check the preview.
If something goes wrong
If something goes wrong
- My printer still prints the old size
- Set the paper size in the print dialog to match and choose “Actual size” rather than “Shrink to fit”.
- Text looks squashed after resizing
- Stretch was used on a page with a different shape. Undo and choose Fit instead.
Resize PDF: questions people ask
Will resizing make my PDF file smaller?
No. It changes paper dimensions, not file size. To reduce megabytes, use Compress PDF.
How do I convert A4 to Letter without cutting anything off?
Choose US Letter with Fit. A4 is slightly taller and narrower, so content is scaled a little to stay fully visible.
Do form fields and comments stay in place?
Yes. Fields and annotations are scaled and moved with the page content, so they stay over the boxes they belong to.
Can I crop just one page?
Yes. Draw the crop box on that page and apply it to that page only.
Is cropped content gone for good?
No. Cropping sets the visible area; the content outside it is still in the file. Use Redact PDF to remove content permanently.
