Contractor invoice
For general contractors and trades such as electricians, plumbers, roofers and remodelers. Labor and materials are billed in separate tables because many states tax them differently, and the job site, license number and deposit are on the page where homeowners and lenders expect them.

Contractor invoice: questions people ask
Why are labor and materials separate?
Many states tax materials but not installation labor, or tax them at different points. Separate subtotals make the tax line easy to check. This is not tax advice.
Should my license number be on the invoice?
Several states require licensed contractors to show their license number on contracts, bids and invoices. Including it is good practice either way.
What is a lien waiver and do I attach it here?
A lien waiver confirms you have been paid and give up lien rights for that amount. Rules and forms are state-specific, so send it as a separate document when payment clears.
How do progress payments work with this invoice?
Enter all prior payments in Payments received. The balance due then reflects only what remains on the job.
Can the customer sign to approve the work?
Yes. The acceptance signature lets the customer confirm the work is complete. Use Request signatures to collect it online.
