Event Sponsorship Agreement: questions people ask
Is sponsorship income taxable for a nonprofit?
Qualified sponsorship payments that receive only acknowledgment generally are not unrelated business income. Substantial return benefits, such as advertising with comparative or qualitative language, can change that. Ask a tax adviser.
Can the sponsor approve how its logo is used?
Yes. This template requires the organizer to follow the sponsor's brand guidelines and lets the sponsor approve new uses.
Does this need to be notarized?
No. Signatures by authorized representatives are enough, and e-signatures are generally accepted.
What if the sponsor's reputation becomes a problem?
The termination clause lets either party end the agreement if the other's conduct would seriously harm its reputation, with a pro-rated refund.
