Pricing and free use
Pricing and free use
Soda PDF sells Pro, Team and Business subscriptions; Team is for 3 to 19 licenses at a 10% discount per license, and there is no perpetual license. Its pricing page sends you to checkout for prices, and we could not confirm current USD prices. Soda PDF's free access policy allows up to 2 files a day or files up to 3 MB, and says editing, OCR, forms, AI and saving edited files need a subscription.
PDFBetter's browser tools (merge, split, rotate, images to PDF and similar) run on your device and download free without an account. Downloading a document you edited in the editor needs a free account; the Free plan includes 3 such downloads a month with no watermark, plus 3 signature requests, 1 live form with 50 responses, 20 OCR pages and 20 AI credits. Pro costs $15 a month, or $10 a month billed yearly, and a $6 Day Pass gives 24 hours of Pro without a subscription.
Editing, OCR and AI
Editing, OCR and AI
Soda PDF edits existing text, converts to and from Office and image formats, and offers OCR — searchable text on Pro and Team, editable text on Business. It lists unlimited AI tools on all plans and a translation quota of 1,200 pages a year on Pro and Team or 1,800 on Business; AI and translation run online.
PDFBetter includes OCR (20 pages a month on Free, 1,000 on Pro) that produces editable text, and meters AI by credits with page citations. Heavy AI users may find Soda PDF's unlimited AI a better fit.
Desktop versus browser
Desktop versus browser
Soda PDF's Windows desktop app works offline, with the online version handling AI, cloud storage and translation. PDFBetter runs in the browser and as a free Mac and Windows app: page and image tools run in the browser on your device, while the editor, conversions and OCR use its servers.
