Pricing and licenses

Wondershare's store lists PDFelement as quarterly, yearly, two-year and perpetual licenses, with cross-platform versions costing more than single-platform ones — for example $89.99 for a yearly cross-platform plan and $139.99 for a perpetual PDFelement 13 license. The store shows more than one price for some plans, and there is no monthly plan. The 14-day trial watermarks saved files and excludes some features; Wondershare offers a 30-day money-back guarantee.

PDFBetter's browser tools (merge, split, rotate, images to PDF and similar) run on your device and download free without an account. Downloading a document you edited in the editor needs a free account; the Free plan includes 3 such downloads a month with no watermark, plus 3 signature requests, 1 live form with 50 responses, 20 OCR pages and 20 AI credits. Pro costs $15 a month, or $10 a month billed yearly, and a $6 Day Pass gives 24 hours of Pro without a subscription.

Editing and conversion

PDFelement is a full desktop editor for text and images with batch conversion to and from Office formats, OCR in 26 languages, redaction, compression, automatic form-field detection and bulk extraction of form data. Desktop processing works offline.

PDFBetter covers the same editing, conversion, OCR (in 48 languages), redaction and compression in the browser, with page and image tools running on your device. It also has free desktop apps for Mac and Windows that use the same account and documents.

Signing, forms and AI

PDFelement can send documents for signature, but its store tables show a small number of signature requests on its plans, so check the current allowance if you send often. Its AI features — chat, summaries, translation and contract review — are metered and sold as an add-on, and Wondershare says AI features upload the PDF to its cloud.

PDFBetter includes unlimited signature requests on Pro, publishes forms that collect responses, and includes 500 AI credits a month on Pro with page citations in every answer.
