Reviewed

Our verdict

Lumin is a cloud PDF editor that syncs closely with Google Drive and prices many plans per team with a monthly document allowance, plus a separate Lumin Sign product. PDFBetter prices per person with unlimited downloads and signature requests on Pro, and adds form publishing and AI with page citations. Teams working out of Google Drive with modest document volume may prefer Lumin; individuals who process many documents will find PDFBetter's unlimited downloads simpler.

Pricing and document limits

Lumin's pricing page lists Free with 3 documents a month, Starter at $9 a month for 10 documents, Pro at $19 a month per team for 200 documents shared across the team, and Business at $99 a month per team. These appear to be annual rates: Lumin's help center gives monthly Pro at $30. When a workspace reaches its document limit, Lumin adds a paid document pack automatically by default on monthly plans. Lumin offers 7-day trials of its plans. Lumin Sign is priced separately, with Sign Pro at $18 per user a month for 100 documents.

PDFBetter's browser tools (merge, split, rotate, images to PDF and similar) run on your device and download free without an account. Downloading a document you edited in the editor needs a free account; the Free plan includes 3 such downloads a month with no watermark, plus 3 signature requests, 1 live form with 50 responses, 20 OCR pages and 20 AI credits. Pro costs $15 a month, or $10 a month billed yearly, and a $6 Day Pass gives 24 hours of Pro without a subscription.

Google Drive and teams

Lumin opens PDFs from Google Drive and syncs edits back to the Drive file, and Workspace admins can install it for a whole domain. Business adds OneDrive and Slack connectors. Per-team pricing with unlimited members suits groups who share a modest monthly document volume.

PDFBetter has no Drive integration — files are uploaded from your device, and browser tools process them locally. Business plans are priced per seat with a shared workspace and roles.

Signing, forms and AI

Lumin Pro includes 5 agreements a month; beyond that, Lumin Sign provides templates, reminders and a certificate of completion with up to 20 signers per document. Lumin's form builder adds text, checkbox and radio fields, and Lumin AI offers chat, summaries and agreement drafting.

PDFBetter includes unlimited signature requests on Pro, a 23-type form builder with response collection, and AI with page citations (500 credits a month on Pro). Redaction, which Lumin points to its Business plan for, is on every PDFBetter plan.
