What it does
Extract PDF pages, explained
Extract pages copies the pages you choose into one new PDF. Select pages 4, 9 and 12-14 of a 60-page report and you get a 5-page file with just those pages; the original stays exactly as it was.

It is the right tool when you need to send part of a document: the signed page of a contract, one chapter of a manual, or the pages of a bank statement that a landlord asked for. The selection keeps its original order by default, or you can keep the order you clicked in.
How it differs from its neighbors: Split always produces several files that together cover your ranges. Remove pages deletes a selection and keeps the rest. Extract gives you one file with only the pages you picked.
Extraction runs in your browser; the file is not uploaded and the result downloads free without an account.

A 3-page PDF with those three summary pages in date order, ready to attach.
Settings & formats
What you can control
- Range input
- Pages and ranges, plus “odd”, “even” and open ranges like “40-”.
- Output order
- Document order (default) or selection order.
- Each page as a separate file
- If you want every selected page as its own PDF instead, this switches to Split's “each page” mode for the selection.

Good to know before you start
- Extracting does not hide or remove information on the pages you keep. Black out account numbers with Redact PDF before sending.
- Links on extracted pages that pointed to pages you did not extract no longer have a target.
- Bookmarks are not copied into the extracted file.
If something goes wrong
If something goes wrong
- The extracted file is almost as large as the original
- Pages can share large fonts or images that are needed even for a few pages. Use Compress PDF on the result.
- My range was rejected
- Use numbers, commas and hyphens only, for example 2, 5-8. Page numbers are positions in the file, not the numbers printed on the pages.
Extract PDF pages: questions people ask
What is the difference between extract and split?
Extract makes one new file from the pages you select. Split makes several files, for example one per range or one per page.
Does extracting remove the pages from the original?
No. The original file is not changed. If you want the original without those pages, use Remove pages.
Do filled-in form fields come along?
Yes. Fields on the extracted pages stay fillable and keep their values.
Why do my page numbers not match what is printed on the pages?
Ranges use the page's position in the file. A document whose printed numbering starts after a cover and contents pages will be offset; check the thumbnails.
Can I extract pages from a scanned PDF?
Yes. Scanned pages extract like any other page. If you need the text, run OCR PDF on the result.
