What it does
PNG to PDF, explained
PNG to PDF puts PNG images on PDF pages, one image per page, in the order you set. It suits screenshots for a bug report or tutorial, exported diagrams and charts, and scans saved as PNG.

PNG is lossless, and the images are embedded without lossy compression, so text in screenshots stays sharp. That is the main difference from JPG to PDF, which handles camera photos where small files matter more than pixel-perfect edges.
PNGs can have transparent areas, a logo or diagram with no background for example. In the PDF, transparency is kept, and you choose the page background it sits on: white by default, or any color. The preview shows the result, so a dark-on-transparent logo is not lost on a dark page.
Conversion runs in your browser, so screenshots that may contain private information never leave your device, and the PDF downloads free without an account.

Good to know before you start
- Lossless PNGs make larger PDFs than JPGs, especially for photos. Use Compress PDF if the file is too large to send.
- Animated PNGs (APNG) are converted as their first frame.
- Text inside screenshots is part of the image and is not searchable until you run OCR PDF on the result.
If something goes wrong
If something goes wrong
- A logo disappeared on its page
- It is dark on a transparent background and the page background is dark. Switch the background to white or a lighter color.
- Screenshots are tiny on Letter pages
- High-resolution screens produce large images that are scaled to fit. Choose “Fit to image” so each page matches its screenshot.
PNG to PDF: questions people ask
Does PNG to PDF reduce quality?
No. PNGs are embedded losslessly, so screenshots and diagrams look the same as the originals.
What happens to transparent backgrounds?
Transparency is kept in the PDF and shown over the page background you choose, white by default.
PNG to PDF or JPG to PDF?
Use PNG to PDF for screenshots, diagrams and images with transparency. Use JPG to PDF for camera photos and HEIC files from phones.
Can I make the text in my screenshots searchable?
Yes. After creating the PDF, run OCR PDF to add a searchable text layer.
Are my images uploaded?
No. The PDF is created in your browser.
